Somaliland electoral team will revise procedures for the upcoming elections as Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble waits for list of candidates.
Roble raised a few objections to the existing procedures for electing senators.
Under the initial procedure, the Prime Minister was to receive the list of candidates from Upper House Speaker Abdi Hashi and Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Gulaid.
Hashi and Gulaid were to submit names of the candidates without any consultation with Roble.
However, Roble didn’t take kindly to this omission. Consequently, he asked the two leaders to give him the names for approval.
Somaliland needs to hold elections for the 11 Upper House seats.
The electoral process in Somaliland has encountered all manner of roadblocks owing to the differences between Speaker Hashi and Deputy Prime Minister Gulaid.
