Somaliland Warns Somalia to Stop Interfering in its Internal Affairs

Somaliland has issued a stern warning against Somalia for interfering in its internal affairs.

The House of Representatives issued the warning on Saturday.

In the warning, which the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives published, parliament said that Somaliland gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1960.

It reminded Somalia that Somaliland has been a sovereign state since April 27, 1991.

Furthermore, it hit out at Somalia’s House of the People (Lower House), whose members the Somaliland Parliament referred to as “individuals selected under a tent.”

Somaliland Parliament added that Somalia had no mandate to form a task committee to investigate the situation at Las Anod.

“Las Anod is a city within the Somaliland borders,” the statement read.
