Somaliland Yet to Receive its $11 Million in World Bank Funds from Somalia

Somaliland is yet to receive funds worth $11 million that the World Bank donated to it through the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

World Bank donated $70 million to Somalia out of which Somaliland was entitled to $11 million.

Other Federal Member States (FMS) were also entitled to their share of the funds. Puntland was to be awarded $9 million.

Southwest and Galmudug states were to receive $3 million each.

Jubbaland, HirShabelle, and Banadir were to receive $3 million each too.

However, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s administration appears to have withheld funds for all these regions.

The withholding of funds from Somaliland stands out because it is an independent nation.

None of the entities entitled to the funds is yet to comment to the latest stance taken by Farmaajo’s government in Mogadishu, though.
