The Ministry of Energy has delivered a consignment of medical supplies donated by RAK Gas LLC to the Ministry of Health.
The supplies, which both RAK Gas LLC and RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry donated jointly, are to supplement the efforts of the health ministry to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Somaliland has been hit hard by the virulent disease, which has so far claimed hundreds of thousands of lives around the world.
Mohamed Yusuf, the Director General in the energy ministry, delivered the donation to his counterpart Dr. Mohamed Xeergeeye, who is the Director General in the health ministry.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony on Sunday, DG Yusuf said his ministry had appealed to its partners to help and RAK Gas LLC responded.
The donation includes testing kits and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) meant for doctors, nurses, and all first responders and emergency staff.
DG Xeergeeye said, “We are grateful to the energy ministry, the Minister in charge, and the Director General in the ministry for this significant gesture of support.”
Dr. Xeergeeye added that the supplies would play a crucial role in testing more people around the country, especially those in remote locations.
