Yasin Mohamed Hir Faraton, Somaliland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, visited Lasanod with senior government officials on Tuesday.
Lasanod, the capital of Sool province, accorded Faraton a hero’s welcome.
Faraton’s warm reception started at Gumays District, which is roughly 70kms from Sool’s administrative capital.
Along the way, he made brief stopovers at Adhi Adeye, Yagori, and Samakab.
The minister acknowledged that he was visiting the region for the first time since the last presidential elections.
During his visit, Faraton announced that he would meet and consult with various community elders and members of the public.
Reportedly, Faraton is in the area to reconcile local residents involved in a raging conflict in Yagori.
