The House of Representatives has passed the supplementary budget requested by the Ministry of Finance Development.
The House of Representatives passed the supplementary budget on Sunday, December 8.
Legislators passed the budget during their 44th Session.
With the new budget passed, the Ministry of Finance Development now has close to Somaliland Shillings 55.6 billion.
This week’s approval was the first ever by the House of Representatives, which has never received a request to approve any supplementary budget.
Reports from the finance ministry indicate that the funds would compensate the huge financial and economic losses and challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The government of Somaliland also intends to use part of the funds to address the economic challenges and reduced productivity brought about by locust invasion.
