Abdiweli Sheikh Abdilahi Sufi, Somaliland’s Minister of Telecommunications and Posts, has tested positive to COVID-19.
Consequently, Sufi becomes the second member of President Muse Bihi Abdi’s cabinet to test positive to the novel Coronavirus.
Sufi made the announcement yesterday via Twitter.
He said he has volunteered for the test after displaying signs and symptoms more commonly associated with COVID-19.
Saying that his priority remains the wellbeing of the public, his staff, family, and friends, Sufi reassured the people of Somaliland that he is in isolation receiving treatment.
Sufi’s case is the second after Mohamed Ahmed Awad, the Minister of Investment, also confirmed to the country that he had been diagnosed with COVID-19.
