Somaliland’s Ministry of Health Suspends the License of a Traditional Medical Center

The Ministry of Health announced that it suspended the license of a traditional medical center in the country known as Formula10.

The center is renowned for selling traditional medicine in the country’s administrative capital, Hargeisa.

While making the announcement on Wednesday, Dr. Mohamed Abdi Hergeye, the Director General in the health ministry, said the center’s license remains revoked by the government.

He announced this during his daily briefings on COVID-19.

Director General Hergeye said the center had been responsible for causing plenty of skepticism among members of the public.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdirisak Gabobe, Formula10’s Managing Director, had questioned the country’s capacity to conduct COVID-19 tests.

While responding to Dr. Gabobe, Director General Hergeye said the country is currently relying on testing equipment donated by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Further, Dr. Hergeye clarified that the equipment donated by WHO was of the highest standard. He also said that the organization had also seconded experts to operate the equipment.
