Somalia’s Defense Minister, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, has stated that any party initiating conflict in Ras Kamboni—a disputed area between Jubbaland and the Federal Government of Somalia—will be held accountable.
Speaking in an exclusive interview at his Mogadishu office, the Minister emphasized the federal government’s commitment to strengthening local forces to counter Al-Shabaab.
This position, however, contrasts with Jubbaland’s earlier dismissals of such initiatives.
Ras Kamboni remains a critical flashpoint in federal-state relations, underscoring tensions over territorial control and governance within Somalia’s federal framework.
The minister’s remarks highlight the government’s broader strategy to centralize security efforts while navigating regional disputes.
