On March 13, 2020, the Canadian government issued a directive discouraging Canadians from making non-essential travels.

According to a fresh communiqué from the Canadian Embassy, which is based in Nairobi, the directive also applies to children aged 5 years or older.

Marc Garneau, Canada’s Minister of Transport, the new directive is takes effect from January 7, 2021.

The Canadian government hopes that this move would prevent the introduction and spread of COVID-19 or new variants of the virulent disease into the country.
