Southwest’s President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen has thrown his weight behind the announcement that the September 17 electoral deal would be restored.
Laftagareen made this announcement on April 27.
He declared his support for this decision following the announcement that President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo is no longer keen on his controversial term extension.
President Laftagareen announced that he supports resumption of electoral talks.
Implementation of the agreement reached on September 17 last year has been a contentious issue between Farmaajo and the opposition.
Laftagareen released a letter dated April 27 declaring his support for last year’s deal and the February 16, 2021 recommendations by the Technical Committee in Baidoa.
