Southwest Salvation Forces (SSF) have declared an “unconstitutional vacuum” following the expiry of President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen’s term in office.
SSF is a joint task force that comprises members of the state’s armed forces.
It was formed in Baidoa on Monday, December 19.
During its formation, the group’s members stated that the mandate of Laftagareen, the President of the regional state of Southwest, had already expired.
Consequently, they stated their readiness to take over on an interim basis.
Furthermore, they recommended that the regional state should initiate an electoral process without further delay.
