Police from Somalia’s regional state of Southwest underwent training on counter-terrorism from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) officials.
The 7-day training is designed to equip the Southwest police with the skills needed to combat terrorism.
AMISOM’s Police Unit organized and conducted the training, which kicked off in Baidoa on October 21.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Bisong Ejue, who also doubles as the Acting AMISOM Police Coordinating Officer, police will learn how to prevent terrorist acts.
They will also be trained to know how to exchange information with colleagues.
Moreover, Ejue also indicated that the Southwest police can expect to be better at searching and extraditing terror suspects.
Currently, 25 officers from different police stations in the region are attending the training at Southwest’s capital.
