Southwest State Urges Humanitarian Agencies to Scale up Their Response

Southwest State, a semiautonomous region in Somalia, needs humanitarian agencies to scale up their response.

This was revealed on December 28 during a ministerial visit in the area.

Several ministers, under the leadership of the regional Ministry of Humanitarian and Disaster Management, toured the area on Monday.

During their visit, they assessed the humanitarian situation in the region.

The ministers noticed that local residents face acute shortage of food, water, and proper healthcare. They also noted the lack of most basic needs.

The entourage featured several members of President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed’s administration.

At the end of their visit, they issued a call for “scaled up humanitarian assistance.”
