Mohamed Abdirahman Mursal, the Speaker of the House of Representatives said that parliament never discussed President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s term extension.
Speaker Mursal made this announcement after Farmaajo finished addressing parliament on the outcome of the recent National Consultative Conference on elections.
The elections talk was held in Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of Galmudug State, from February 1-5.
The conference drew participants from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS).
He denied reports circulating in a section of the press, and social media specifically, stating that parliamentarians were discussing possibility of extending Farmaajo’s term in office.
Farmaajo had earlier invited Members of Parliament (MPs) to Saturday’s session. However, he letter excluded Senators (Upper House) from attending the session.
