Mogadishu — Somali Police chief General Asad Osman Abdullahi and United States Chargé d’Affaires to Somalia Steven Gillen attended a training drill conducted by the elite anti-terror unit Galeyr on Wednesday.
According to the Somali Police Force, the demonstration was held in Mogadishu to highlight the unit’s advanced capabilities and state of readiness in counter-terrorism operations.
The event showcased Galeyr’s tactical proficiency, rapid response capacity, and the professionalism required to tackle extremist threats in Somalia.
Both officials commended the unit for its commitment to safeguarding national security and supporting ongoing efforts to ensure stability across the country.
The Somali Police Force emphasized that the Galeyr unit plays a key role in strengthening Somalia’s security architecture at a time of persistent security challenges.
