SSC-Khaatumo Leader Meets Amb. Yu to Discuss Infrastructure and Somalia-China Ties

Mogadishu, Somalia – In a significant diplomatic engagement, SSC-Khaatumo leader Abdulkadir Ahmed Aw-Ali held a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu, in Mogadishu to discuss deepening cooperation between Somalia and China under the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) framework.

The two sides explored opportunities for collaboration on critical infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity, economic development, and service delivery in SSC-Khaatumo and broader regions of Somalia. These include roads, energy, health, and water infrastructure, which are vital for enhancing stability and fostering inclusive growth.

Amb. Yu reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s sovereignty, development goals, and reconstruction efforts, while emphasizing the importance of regional representation in national development plans. He noted that China’s cooperation with Somalia remains rooted in mutual respect and a shared vision for sustainable progress.

Leader Aw-Ali welcomed China’s ongoing support and expressed optimism about the role Chinese investment and expertise could play in helping SSC-Khaatumo recover from years of underdevelopment and conflict.

The meeting highlights a growing recognition of regional voices in Somalia’s national dialogue and development agenda, and it comes amid broader Chinese engagement in the Horn of Africa.
