Governor Ali Jeyte Osman of Hiran has warned aid agencies to stop distributing food outside Baledweyne.
Instead, he asked them to work with the regional government to protect the long-term future of the local residents and the entire region.
“Failure by aid agencies to work with the local government could lead to serious repercussions in line with the existing rules and regulations,” Osman added.
Further, he warned that any aid agency that ignores these directives would be liable for expulsion from the region.
President Mohamed Abdi Ware of HirShabelle State appointed Osman the Governor of Hiran on September 19, 2017.
