Thirty Burundian soldiers lost their lives when Al-Shabaab soldiers attacked the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) base in HirShabelle.
A Burundian soldier who sought anonymity provided these details while speaking to the media on May 4.
Al-Shabaab militants attacked the forward operating base (FOB) in El-Baraf, HirShabelle on Tuesday, May 3.
The Burundian soldier also claims that scores of his colleagues are missing after the deadly attack.
The attack is one of the worst by Al-Shabaab against AU forces in Somalia.
