Thousands of people fled their homes as River Shabelle burst its banks.
There had been fears of possible flooding as the water levels in the river kept rising.
Those fears materialised on Tuesday.
According to reports, over 10,000 people were forced to flee their homes from the resultant flooding.
They fled to safety when their flooded homes became uninhabitable.
Residents of Beledweyne, a town located 335km to the north of Mogadishu, were the most affected.
Heavy rains in the region heightened fears of increased foods.
