Thousands of voters have registered in Buhoodle for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in Somaliland.
The voter registration exercise has been ongoing in various parts of the country.
Somaliland National Elections Commission (NEC) announced that the exercise would now take off in Sanaag and Sool from January 10, 2021.
Abdirashid Mohamud Ali, the Chairman of the NEC, announced details of the new schedule of registration on Sunday.
He was speaking at the local offices of NEC in Erigavo.
Ali was in Erigavo to send registration officers on their way to add new voters to the national register.
He mentioned that voters in all areas of Sanaag would be registered except for those in Eel Afweine and Gar-Adag.
Voters in Gar-Adag and Eel Afweine were registered together with those in Toghdeer when the third stage of registration kicked off from December 27-30, 2020.
Ali urged more voters to show up and register when the exercise kicks off in their respective regions.
Registration kicks off for the fourth and final time; hence, the request by Chairman Ali for all those aged 15 years and above who have never registered before to turn up.
