Mogadishu, Somalia – The Somali Armed Forces Court on Thursday carried out the execution of three convicted Al-Shabaab terrorists by firing squad in the capital, Mogadishu, following their conviction for murder and orchestrating attacks in Benadir and Lower Shabelle regions.
The executed individuals — identified as Qudama Hamza Yusuf, Abdi Hassan Roble, and Ibrahim Omar Shama’un — were found guilty of participating in targeted killings, planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and coordinating attacks that led to civilian and military casualties.
According to a statement released by state media, the trio had been apprehended during security operations and subsequently tried in a military court that specializes in terrorism-related offenses. The court ruled that the men had violated national laws and posed a serious threat to public safety and the country’s stability.
“The Somali Armed Forces Court delivered justice in accordance with the law. These individuals were involved in brutal crimes that cost innocent lives and destabilized communities,” read the official statement.
The execution, conducted in accordance with Somali military judicial procedures, marks the latest in a series of court-ordered penalties targeting Al-Shabaab operatives as the federal government intensifies its campaign against the militant group.
The government reiterated its commitment to upholding justice and protecting civilians, while urging citizens to cooperate with security agencies in identifying extremist elements.
The execution comes amid a renewed security crackdown following recent deadly attacks by Al-Shabaab in the capital and other regions, prompting increased vigilance from national security forces.
