Three police officers in Somalia were killed in a clash with local militia in Hiran region on January 8, 2021.
Reports from the region indicate that the Somali Police Force (SPF) officers lost their lives during an operation organized to remove an illegal roadblock.
According to sources, the roadblock was illegally erected near Mataban District, Hiran.
The incident took place a day after Harma’ad soldiers were ambushed by unidentified gunmen in Mataban.
It is still not clear how many officers were injured in the fracas that occurred on the two consecutive days.
However, it is not lost on security agents that attacks by militants have increased considerably in this region, especially against police officers, soldiers, government officials, and innocent civilians.
