Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has promised to support higher education in Somaliland.
The announcement was made when TIKA supplied East Africa University, which serves students in Buuhoodle, with education materials.
Buuhoodle is home to over 400 students from low-income families and backgrounds.
Consequently, the East African University in Buuhoodle is the only facility of its kind offering college education in the region.
Nevertheless, the institution is unable to offer the kind of education that would equip students properly or give them the much-needed exposure.
TIKA has promised to step in to change the situation.
First, it donated a consignment of supplies that included five computers, five projectors, two printers, and a single photocopier.
In addition to that, TIKA also donated one camera plus two male and female nursing training sets to the Buuhoodle East Africa University.
The equipment supplied to the institution would go a long way to ensuring that students no longer have to rely on the theoretical classes they were receiving.
Buuhoodle East Africa University is right at the border between Somaliland and Somalia’s semiautonomous region of Puntland.
