On Wednesday, Colonel Oscar Hatungimana, the commander of Sector 5 of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), and General Abdullahi Aden Hussein Ciro, the deputy commander of the Somali National Army (SNA) Land Forces, visited the Xawaadley Forward Operating Base (FOB).
Their visit aimed to assess the progress of the joint military offensive against Al-Shabaab militants in the Middle Shabelle region.
During the visit, the commanders met with troops stationed at the base and received detailed battlefield updates on efforts to reclaim areas currently under al-Shabaab’s control.
