Saleban Yusuf, the Regional Minister of Information, has announced 13 more COVID-19 cases, which bring the total to 19.
The announcement by the information minister contradicts an earlier one by Ministry of Health that the country had not confirmed any new COVID-19 case.
If Yusuf’s numbers are true, then it would represent the highest number of cases confirmed in a single day in the country.
Further, Yusuf expressed his displeasure that members of the public were not observing the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and the COVID-19 Committee.
Additionally, Yusuf also said the disease has been ravaging Somalis in the diaspora in disproportionate numbers.
The government of Somaliland has initiated several measures designed to curb the spread of the virulent disease in the country.
