A top Somali-American legislator has arrived in Mogadishu for a series of meetings with several government officials.
Hodan Hassan, a House of Representatives member from Minnesota, arrived in the Somali capital on Tuesday.
She made history in 2018 as one of the two Muslim women leaders to be elected to the Minnesota legislature.
Upon her arrival, Hassan met with Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
Her other meetings were with Speaker Abdi Hashi and Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe of the Senate (Upper House) and House of the People (Lower House) respectively.
Hassan expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded her by all the leaders she met.
