Somaliland’s Minister of Transport and Road Development, Hon. Abdillahi Abokor Osman, led a high-powered delegation to inspect construction works along linking Hargeisa to Salahlay and Ina-Guuxa.
According to official records, that single stretch of road is crucial for the development of the entire country. Secondly, it is critical in opening up the southern side of the country to more trade and increased opportunities.
Eng. Dhego-Ade and Eng. Abdirizaq Wiiwaaa, who are in-charge of supervising the construction of the road, were on hand to welcome the delegation. The two engineers then briefed members of the delegation on the progress attained thus far.
Furthermore, they had good news to share with the delegation. They said the road is on the verge of completion. The 1km of the road that runs into Ina-Guuxa is complete while the remaining 1km will be ready in the next two days.
Local elders and residents were also on hand to witness the historic event. They were also upbeat about the economic potential of the region being fully realized once the road is opened for use. They gave the transport minister a gift of a female camel and her newborn calf.
