Turkey has commended the decision by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to reconfigure African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
UNSC Resolution No. 2628 (2022) reconfigures AMISOM to African Union Transitional Mission to Somalia (ATMIS).
Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs endorsed this decision.
Furthermore, it also commended the joint consultation between African Union Commission (AUC) and the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) on this issue.
The Turkish government promised to continue supporting Somalia.
