They government of Turkey has strongly condemned the latest suicide bombing attack in Somalia’s capital city.
On the evening of September 14, a man wearing a vest laden with explosives detonated it near a security checkpoint in Mogadishu.
Eleven people – including civilians and security officers – lost their lives while dozens more were injured.
On Wednesday, Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spoke out against the deadly attack, which left the residents of Mogadishu reeling in shock.
In its statement, the ministry termed the incident a “heinous terrorist attack.”
Turkey confirmed that it would continue extending its support to Somalia, especially in the fight against terrorism and militant groups.
Turkey remains one of Somalia’s most important international partners.
It also trains many of the military officers in Somalia, who are expected to take over from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops.
AMISOM’s mandate is close to expiring.
