Turkey to Continue Supporting SNA to Promote Peace in Somalia

Turkey has promised to continue supporting Somali National Army (SNA).

The Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu announced this on April 12 during celebrations held to mark the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of SNA.

Somalia established its army on April 12, 1960.

Mehmet Yilmaz, Turkish Ambassador to Somalia, was one of the dignitaries invited to grace the celebrations in Mogadishu.

Turkey has been one of Somalia’s most steadfast international partners.

It has invested heavily in several sectors in Somalia, including the military.

The European nation regularly takes military officers from Somalia for months-long advanced training in Turkey.

According to Ambassador Yilmaz, Turkey’s continued investments in SNA and the support accorded to the military will promote peace and security in the East African nation.
