Two Senators Criticize Recent Government Actions

Two leading senators in Somalia’s Upper House have criticized the recent actions by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

Senator Abdirahman Mohamed Farole and Senator Abdirizaq Osman Jurile cited the recent vote of no confidence the Lower House passed against ex-Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire.

Senator Farole and Senator Jurile said the government had acted “illegally” and that the moves by the House of Representatives were a “violation of the constitution.”

According to their statement that they released to the media, the two senators wrote that the country should not embrace “politically devastating activities.”

They said all the latest moves by the government and lawmakers were the machinations of a few people who wish to spoil the peace, democracy, and stability Somalia has been enjoying.
