U.S. Offers $5 Million for Information on Al-Shabaab Operative Behind Kampala Bombings

United States – The United States is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the capture of Abdikadir Mohamed Abdikadir, also known as Ikrima, a senior Al-Shabaab member wanted for his role in the 2010 Kampala bombings that killed 76 people, including a U.S. citizen.

The attacks targeted football fans watching the World Cup final at two venues in Uganda’s capital and marked Al-Shabaab’s first major strike outside Somalia. The group said the bombings were retaliation for Uganda’s troop deployment in Somalia under the then African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

Ikrima, a Kenyan national of Somali descent, is linked to Al-Shabaab’s external operations and is believed to have plotted other attacks across East Africa, including in Kenya. The U.S. State Department said he maintains close ties with Al-Qaeda affiliates and poses a serious threat to regional and international security.

The reward is being offered through the Rewards for Justice program. Anyone with credible information can contact authorities via secure tip lines or at rewardsforjustice.net.

“This reward reflects our commitment to justice for victims of terrorism,” said the State Department while announcing the hefty reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
