UK Committed to Defending Media Freedom in Somalia

The government of the United Kingdom has reiterated its commitment to defending media freedom in Somalia.

Its Embassy in Somalia reassured journalists in the East African nation that it would not stop advocating for media freedom.

Somalia is one of the world’s most dangerous countries for journalists.

Since 2010, more than 55 journalists have been killed in the Horn of Africa nation.

Sadly, only four individuals have been brought to book for their deaths with a majority of the perpetrators going scot-free.

On November 16, the UK Embassy in Somalia issued a press statement reaffirming its dedication to supporting a free press in the country and elsewhere around the world.
