UK MP Calls for Swift Conclusion of Somalia Elections

A Member of Parliament (MP) from the United Kingdom has called for a swift conclusion to parliamentary and presidential elections in Somalia.

Vicky Ford, the Chelmsford MP and Minister for Africa, issued a statement on this issue on March 28.

Furthermore, MP Ford also appealed to Somali leaders to push for a speedy conclusion to the elections, which have gone beyond the March 15 deadline.

In her address, the Chelmsford MP called for more participation by Somali women in the affairs of their country.

Ford said that women’s participation is crucial for the success of Somalia politically and economically.

She urged more women to take part in building a country and society that is not only stable but also peaceful.
