UK MP Hails PM Roble for De-escalating Political Tensions in Somalia

A United Kingdom Member of Parliament (MP) has commended Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble for attempting to de-escalate political tensions in Somalia.

Over the last week, Prime Minister Roble has held meetings with regional state leaders and opposition politicians to resolve the months-long electoral impasse.

On March 2, James Duddridge, a Conservative Party MP, said that the UK “welcomes efforts” by Roble to de-escalate the politician tensions in the East African nation.

Duddridge said that the UK would continue supporting Somalia’s choice of finding peaceful solutions to their political and electoral problems.

He urged all parties taking part in the ongoing talks to be ready to compromise for the sake of the country’s stability.

The MP called for “an immediate inclusive and credible electoral process” in Somalia.
