The United Kingdom has pledged to increase the support that it accords to the health sector in Somalia.
This follows a meeting between Dr. Ali Hajiadam Abubakar and Mike Nithavrianakis on Wednesday.
Dr. Abubakar held discussions with Nithavrianakis, the UK Ambassador to Somalia, on wide-ranging issues in Mogadishu.
Dr. Abubakar, the Minister of Health, commended the UK for the role it has played in Somalia’s health sector over the years.
Ambassador Nithavrianakis added that the UK is committed to supporting the health sector in Somalia.
“The UK will strengthen its support towards the health sector in Somalia,” said Amb. Abubakar.
The UK supports programs such as the Better Lives Initiative, which supports efforts to improve the lives of Somali women and children in the country.
