The United Kingdom government supports the call by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble for the National Consultative Council (NCC) Conference.
On December 30, a British Member of Parliament (MP) confirmed this.
Vicky Ford, the MP for Chelmsford and Minister for Africa, said that the UK supports Prime Minister Roble’s call for a national conference to discuss elections.
Initially, the NCC Conference was to take place from December 27.
However, the attempt by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo to sack Roble halted those plans.
Reports indicate that the conference could now take place on January 3, 2022.
Ford advised Somali politicians and leaders to desist the provocative actions and talks that could throw the country into disarray.
