The United Nations has spoken out against the lack of cholera vaccines in Somalia.
UN agencies in the country are appealing to the international community to work closely with authorities in Somalia to address the situation.
Their concern comes in the midst of a cholera outbreak.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), around 1.4 million doses of the vaccine are expected in Somalia shortly.
OCHA added that the doses are urgently needed considering that the disease has claimed 54 lives since the start of the year.
Sixty percent of the deaths were of children under 5 years.
Currently, the country has recorded 4,400 cases of cholera since the turn of the year.
