The United Nations has donated US$7.2 million to Somalia to help the East African nation to prepare for elections.
On August 9, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble signed the agreement with the global body at his office on August 9.
The funds are part of the contributions by Somalia’s international partners to help the country to organize democratic elections.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the funds will expedite the election process that is going in around the country.
Two of Somalia’s regional states have already held their senatorial elections, which sets the stage for presidential elections later this month.
