James Swan, the United Nations Special Envoy to Somalia, has commended legislators for approving the appointment of the new Prime Minister.
The UN Special Envoy relayed his congratulatory message to legislators from the House of the People (Lower House) who approved Hamza Abdi Barre as the new Somali premier.
The legislators approved Barre’s appointment by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Saturday, June 26.
All the 220 Lower House legislators who attended the session approved Barre’s choice as premier.
Special Envoy Swan informed Somalis that the UN looks forward to working closely with Prime Minister Barre to advance the country’s national priorities.
