United Nations Special Representative James Swan congratulated Abdi Hashi Abdullahi for winning the elections for the Speaker of the Senate (Upper House).
Swan serves as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia and the Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).
The UN Special Envoy held talks with Speaker Hashi in Mogadishu on Sunday, May 8.
Swan commended Speaker Hashi on his reelection.
The two leaders also discussed the next phase of Somalia’s elections. Somalia concludes its elections with the presidential polls set for next weekend.
The East African nation holds presidential elections on May 15.
