The United Nations has launched a new cultural initiative in Somalia known as the Home of Somali Poetry.
UN launched the initiative on Wednesday, August 25.
The initiative, which brings together local poets and lovers of poetry in Somalia, enjoys the backing of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Jocelyn Mason, the UNDP Somalia Resident Representative, expressed her delight and that of the UNDP in taking part in the creation of such a vital initiative.
Mason also stated that poetry has the ability to unite the people of Somalia and act as a powerful tool for promoting peace.
