UN Special Envoy Honors ATMIS Soldiers from Uganda

The United Nations Special Representative to Somalia has paid tribute to Ugandan soldiers serving as part of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).

James Swan, the UN Secretary-General’s Representative to Somalia, paid tribute to the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) soldiers serving in ATMIS.

The UN Special Envoy is in Kampala, Uganda.

He honored the ATMIS contingent from UPDF during a meeting with Oryem Henry Okello on Thursday, July 7.

Okello is Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and a serving Member of Parliament (MP).

During their meeting, Swan and Okello also spoke of the need for continued support for Somalia from regional and international partners.
