Two United Nations organizations have joined hands to rehabilitate boreholes in the drought-affected regional state of Puntland.
UN Central Emergency Response Fund (UNCERF) announced that it would continue rehabilitating the boreholes jointly with UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
The announcement broke out on Friday, September 9.
According to the two organizations, the boreholes would ensure that more than 21,000 people in Puntland have access to clean, usable water.
UNCERF called the ongoing drought in Somalia a “humanitarian catastrophe.”
