The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has donated reusable sanitary pads to young women and girls in Somalia.
Personnel from UNFPA distributed the pads to young adolescents and women in Banadir region’s Kah districts on December 31.
Many young girls and women in the East African nation have no access to sanitary pads.
Consequently, they are unable to engage in normal productive activities.
With UNFPA stepping in to provide the pads, the young girls are now likely to reduce their dependency on unhygienic materials.
Reusable sanitary pads would protect them from urogenital symptoms and infections.
