The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) officials were at a Mogadishu hospital to evaluate the treatment of cholera.
The UNICEF team visited Banadir Hospital in the nation’s capital to assess services at the cholera treatment center.
In March this year, 300 patients were admitted for treatment after being diagnosed with acute water diarrhea.
Ninety-seven of those tested positive for cholera. Most of them were young children.
This year, health facilities around the country have diagnosed close to 5,000 people with cholera. Thus far, the disease has claimed the lives of around 60 people.
