Unidentified gunmen shot and killed a Somali National Army (SNA) soldier on Tuesday in the border town of Beled-Hawo.
According to witnesses and local security agents, the gunmen accosted the soldier on September 29 and shot him on the spot.
The reason for the altercation was not immediately clear.
The soldier’s identity was later released after his next of kin had been informed. He has been identified as Diriye Barre Ubow.
Beled-Hawo has been a scene of intense battles in the recent past.
Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) troops have engaged their counterparts from the regional government of Jubbaland in several gun battles.
