Dalsan Radio, a local broadcaster in Mogadishu, announced that Al-Shabaab fired several mortar shells at Halane Basecamp.
The compound hosts many offices, which include African Union, European Union, and United Nations. It also houses the offices of the Embassy of the United States.
United Nations has condemned the attack. However, it says the mortar shells landed outside the compound thus never caused much damage.
UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UMSOM) released a tweet that read, “Security personnel are assessing potential injuries and damages following the attack.”
UMSOM promised to release more details of the attack as it receives them.
The Halane Basecamp has previously come under heavy attack by Al-Shabaab. This year, it was attacked in late February.
