Reports indicate that the United States completed the withdrawal of its troops from Somalia on January 15.
Friday was the last day for the US to pull out its military from the East African nation.
Multiple reports from reliable sources indicate that the global superpower finally managed to do just that at the end of Friday.
Over the last 3-4 weeks, the United States had deployed several of its warships in Somalia to help reposition the troops withdrawn from the Horn of African country.
The United States had stationed about 700 troops in Somalia to help secure the country against the threat posed by Al-Shabaab and other extremist groups.
President Donald Trump announced that his administration would withdraw its Somalia-based troops while campaigning for last year’s presidential elections.
The US went ahead with the troops’ withdrawal despite receiving several appeals from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to reconsider the decision.
